German's Soup Information

If you’re ever in the mood for something comforting yet bold, a visit to German's Soup on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn should definitely be on your list. Nestled in a cozy corner of the neighborhood, this hidden gem has made quite the name for itself with a hearty menu full of soups that feel like home. As soon as you step inside, you’re met with the welcoming scent of simmering broths and spices, making it clear this isn’t just another diner.

The menu at German's Soup offers a comforting variety of options, but it's the homemade soups that really steal the show. Whether you're craving a rich, velvety potato leek or something with a bit more kick like their spicy sausage soup, each bowl feels like it’s been made with care. The flavors are bold but balanced, and each ingredient shines through in a way that makes you feel like you're eating something crafted with love. It’s not just about filling up - it’s about enjoying every spoonful, and you can taste the difference in the quality of ingredients.

But it’s not just the soups that draw you in. The atmosphere at German's Soup is laid-back and relaxed, the kind of place where you can comfortably settle in for a long meal. The staff is friendly and attentive, always willing to offer suggestions if you can’t decide what to try first. Whether you’re visiting for a quick lunch or planning to spend a lazy afternoon, the vibe here makes you want to linger a little longer.

While the soup menu might be the star of the show, there are also a handful of sandwiches and sides that complement the experience perfectly. Their grilled cheese, for example, pairs wonderfully with any of the soups, creating a nostalgic comfort-food moment. Plus, if you’ve got room for dessert, the selection of homemade pies is worth saving space for.

Another great thing about German's Soup is its ability to cater to a variety of tastes. Vegetarians will find options that satisfy, and if you're a fan of more robust flavors, the meat-based soups will hit the spot. The restaurant itself is small but mighty, offering a warm environment that feels both intimate and community-oriented.

If you're in the area and craving something that feels both satisfying and soul-warming, German's Soup is definitely worth checking out. What People's Say About Place

Authentic guyanese food and this is comin from a woman born and raised in GT. The women who work here are always so nice and pleasant. I brought my non Guyanese friend here and they allowed her to sample some of the rice that she wanted to buy. They explained all the foods to her and didn’t seem annoyed by her questions. That’s great customer service !!! The portions are large and the price is reasonable. Now let’s get into the BALANJAY (eggplant). This gave me pure nostalgia. Reminds me of back home forreal. That roti and balanjay is the combo you didn’t know you needed. The BBQ chicken taste like it’s from the grill. The cook up rice taste good but I can’t lie, my GMA’s cook up taste better lol. The soup taste GREAT ! Pictured below is the balanjay (eggplant) & a piece of roti.

They sell the closest to authentic Jamaican jerk like in the island. The jerk chicken is super delicious and well seasoned. The jerk pork is slow cooked and so tender.

The soup is the bomb. Casava and corn and so rich! The eggballs were something else! A hard-boiled egg surrounded by cooked mashed potatoes? Casava? And then lightly breaded and fried. So yum! And nice chicken and rice. Thank y'all!

Amazing. Every dish achieves excellence. Restaurant staff are consistently observant. This place earned my sincere praise. The main drawback is the waiting time during busy periods.

My first Guyana-style restaurant visit and very impressed. Tried the restauran’t cook-up rice and a small vegetable soup. The subtle taste of coconut in the rice was my favorite part of the meal. I need to try this Guyanese recipe at home soon. Try it out!

My wife who is Guyanese was always telling me about the German Soup restaurant in Georgetown. She was so excited when it opened in Brooklyn and convinced me to try it. The best tasting restaurant Guyanese food around. Top five in Guyanese good I’ve had. The restaurant is clean, people are nice. The atmosphere is great - no loud or raunchy music. Unlike most West Indian restaurants the wait isn’t too long and they deliver on seamless

One of the better restaurants on Utica strip. Literally go there every day at this point. Cannot get enough of their raisin rice and cow heel soup! If you need a good meal and the best soup in the mile radius you need to be there! Definitely worth your time and money. Don’t take my work for it. Go find out!

The beef soup was tender and really good! They weren't cheap with the beef either. I ordered a large.
